Cheers to Being Life-Long Learners

Hello blog!

It’s me. Again.

How are all of you? It’s really been a minute.

I posted this LinkedIn article I think around two months ago announcing my graduation from Praxis.

If you didn’t know, I was a part of this year long program where I jump started my career. It’s easily been the best decision I ever made.

Back when I first started, everything was new. I was learning like crazy and trying to find out what I wanted to do while making a little money on the side.

Lately, I’ve been in the phase of transitioning from being mostly a student to mostly an “employee” (as a contactor, that’s of myself, but I digress).

I still dedicate space for class time, but it’s at the end of the day if/when I’ve finished work for my paying clients and haven’t burnt out all of my energy yet.

Except, I’m still learning all day. Only now it’s on the job.

Things such as:

-How to build an entire 7-page website on WordPress by using Elementor

-How to use the Astra theme

-How to clean up an email list in ActiveCampaign

-How to install reCaptcha (both invisible and visible)

-What the Salesforce Experience Cloud is and how to access it

-How to find IDs at the end of Salesforce URL

-How to build out drip campaigns in Wise Agent

-How to build out a newsletter template in Wise Agent (it involves a lot of table-inception)

-How to set up domain records in GoDaddy

-How to design and build out a payment page in ThriveCart

-That you can screen record using Slack (who knew this and why didn’t I know it until now)

And that’s all I could remember just off of the top of my head.

(Albeit, the first one is a massive task that had a lotttt of learning moments scattered throughout. It could be it’s own list.)

In summary, working with clients who are constantly growing and taking me along for the ride has projected my growth rate faster than I ever could have imagined.

When I was taking my first steps into the work world and someone asked me what I wanted to do, my answer was usually “I don’t know”.

Now, if someone asks me what I want to for the rest of my life, I think I’ll answer with “Get paid to learn”.

It keeps life interesting. And that makes it fun (and stressful but I’ll take what I can get).

The best part about the model is that you learn best by doing– aka, providing value to others. By putting what I learn into action, I both solidify my knowledge and build out valuable projects for my clients.

It’s a win-win!

Even though I’m not in the full-time only in-classes phase anymore in my life, I still consider myself a life-long learner. The only difference between myself now and then is that I get to put those skills into action for others rather than for myself.

Cheers to being life-long learners!
